The facebook group Pit Crack West Cumbria is featuring poems promoting West Cumbria Mining (at any cost it seems) and ridiculing Keep Cumbrian Coal in the Hole and ‘Green Marianne’ hey ho.

Any way here is a little poem in reply to Pit Crack Cumbria I’ve just tried to post on the facebook group but it was blocked. Here it is.

The Cavalry is Here

Its West Cumbria Mining

Currently Focussed on Coal 

But thats Just a Blinding

The Big Money’s on Nuclear

The Hole would be Deep

Deeper than Scafell is high 

n’ Fifteen Miles Square Peeps

with Artificial Intelligence

Giant Moles Underground

Creep Creep Creep

Who Cares if the Water’s Acid Orange

In the Harbour -“Give us New Coal”

Is the Nostalgic Clamour.

Dripping with Memories of Days

Long Ago Where the Axe and the Blast

Will No Longer Go.  Now it is Massive

Tunnel Boring Machines Giant Moles

Massive Dust and Damage Aglow

Its all climate friendly and clean clean CLEAN dontcha know

Needs more energy than all previous three

A new coal mine makes it easy to

dig a big hole deep under the sea for the

Hot Hot Hot Nuclear Waste

Only 100 degrees C 

Climate Change focus has Blinded

the Faithful to Atomic Waste’s

Trojan Horse Galloping out of the Stable.

The Doors won’t be bolted while

Invisible to Groups whose

“Get a Conscience” – Jobs, 5G and Mining

Following the planning meeting in Kendal, the CEO of West Cumbria Mining told me to “Get a Conscience”.  Presumably he meant that I and others fighting the coal mine were jeopardising ‘promised’ jobs by opposing the development.

I wonder if the same vehemence of “Get a Conscience” is being directed by the CEO of West Cumbria Mining to the increasing automation of mines – the “smart mines” of the future promised by 5G.

” Henan Energy and Chemical Industry Group signed an agreement with China Mobile’s Henan branch to build the first 5G-based unmanned mining project in the province. Shandong-based mining conglomerate Yankuang Group has set up a joint lab with China Unicom and ZTE to develop 5G and intelligent mining in areas including 5G-based smart mining, intelligent transportation and drone patrol.”

I wonder if the luddites were right – it certainly looks like the fourth industrial revolution ……promised by the World Economic Forum and others promoting the necessary Blockchain technology to facilitate it …..will be the most destructive.

I doubt the 500 jobs promised would ever materialise but we can be sure the pollution and destruction would be more than evident should the first deep coal mine in the UK in decades go ahead.
