Today we were out and about in Cumbria leafleting. Time is now short with the planning meeting scheduled to take place on March 7th and the consultation ending on the 19th Feb ( you can still write and object up until the planning meeting)
While leafleting in Kendal we asked people the following questions:
- Have you heard of the zip wires plan 20 miles away from Kendal as the crow flies
100% replied YES
- Have you heard of the Coal Mine plan 30 miles away from Kendal as the crow flies.
100% said NO
Both of these planning applications will be heard on the same day in Kendal. The Zip wires plan by the Lake District National Park Authority and the Coal Mine plan by Cumbria County Council. The plan that will beyond any shadow of a doubt have the most damaging and long lasting impacts is going way under the radar so anything that you can do to help raise awareness of the plan for the first deep coal mine in the UK for 30 years, is of huge value.
